The university founded in 1908.The U of A is a diverse and welcoming community for students with many different backgrounds and individual experiences. You may be applying from high school, from another postsecondary institution or you may have attended high school in another province or another country.
 To assist you in determining whether the U of A is the right choice for you, we have separated our admission information into the following five categories. The Open University; Admission tips

Do you want to get your self  admitted? Open University provides an opportunity for the general public and disqualified/denied students to have access to regularly scheduled University classes without going through the admissions process.


  • If you are an admitted CSU, Chico student, you are not eligible to take classes through Open University.
  • If you are an Open University student and decide to apply for admission to the University, you must meet all regular admission requirements. Contact the University Admissions Office for additional information.
  • If you have been academically disqualified or denied admission to CSU, Chico, you will need to obtain the signatures of the instructor, department chair, and a staff member from Academic Advising (undergraduates) or the Graduate School (graduates) for each course. Return the completed form with all appropriate signatures to Continuing Education for registration and fee payment.
  • Some academic departments have certain Open University restrictions.
  • Qualified CSU, Chico employees who want to participate must seek managerial approval.  
Enrollment:
All classes - except for some Special Session or self-support classes -- in the current term class schedule are available for Open University enrollment on a space available basis. Open University enrollments must be completed by the fourth Friday of the semester (the census date).

04 Easy steps to Enroll:
  • Select your class:
Select classes from the current Class Schedule at www.csuchico.edu/schedule/

  • Complete an Add/Drop form:
Pick up a copy from the Continuing Education office.

  • Get permission and signature:
Request permission of the instructor to enroll. Permission is contingent upon whether there is space available in the class, as well as other criteria established by the instructor, department, or college. Permission is entirely at the instructor's discretion. The College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Construction Management requires the department chair's signature.
If permission is granted, have the instructor or department chair sign the Add/Drop form.


  • Pay fees: 

 Return your completed Add/Drop form to Continuing Education with the payment of fees. Fees are $255 per unit, pending final approval. Qualified CSU, Chico employees pay $60 per unit, plus any course fees.
Forms with signatures more than 10 working days old will not be accepted.
You are officially registered after your fees are paid and the forms have been processed by Continuing Education. Any debt to the University or registration hold must be resolved before registration can take place.

Late Adds:
Classes added after the fourth Friday of the semester (census date) require permission of the instructor, department chair, and dean and a serious and compelling reason.

Drops:
 To drop a class, an Add/Drop Form form must be completed and returned to Continuing Education.  Failure to do so constitutes an unofficial withdrawal and can result in a failing grade for the course.
Students can drop classes through the second week of class without permission.
After the second week, instructor permission is required to drop courses. A signature of permission is required on the Add/Drop form, and must be no more than 10 days old when the form is presented for processing.
After the fourth Friday (census date), a serious and compelling reason, as well as permission of the instructor, department chair, and college dean is required to drop courses. Refunds:
 A refund can be requested by submitting the required forms or by contacting Continuing Education prior to census date (the fourth Friday of the semester). No refund will be granted after census date.
  • Drop before the first day of the term: Full refund less a $15 processing fee.
  • Drop on/after the first day of the term and on/before the registration deadline: 65% refund less a $5 processing fee.
  • Drop after the census date: no refund. 

Campus Service:
ID Card: A student ID card can be obtained at the Wildcat ID Card office (Student Services Center, Room 180) after registration. New students must wait three business days after registering for Open University to get a student ID card.
Student Health Services: Open University students enrolled in a minimum of six units may have access to health services. A fee of $120/semester must be paid at Continuing Education at the time of registration, or at Cashiering in the Student Services Center, Room 230, prior to the census date.

How to apply California university for admission

Online apply:
If you are ready to apply to California university? They strongly encourage you to take your time filling out the application. Be sure to have all the information you need close at hand. Review your responses and check for accuracy. Still, we know mistakes can happen. If after applying you discover an error, you can make changes to your application.

What you will need:
If you want to apply California university must you need  to take the Upper Division Writing Proficiency Exam no later than the semester in which they complete 75 units. Students who do not take the test by 75 units will have a hold placed on future registration. and will be need this information... when you apply online.

1. Transcripts:
You want to ensure the information you enter is accurate.

2. Test scores:
If you're a freshman or sophomore applicant, you'll have to include your scores from the ACT With Writing or the SAT Reasoning Test, plus two SAT Subject Tests in two different disciplines.(Be sure to complete these tests by December.) All applicants should report scores for any Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, TOEFL or IELTS exams they have taken.

3. Annual income information:
Annual income for 2009 and 2010 (your parents' if you're a dependent; yours if you're independent.) This is optional unless you're applying for a fee waiver or for the Educational Opportunity Program.

4. Social Security number:
 If you have one. We use this to match your application to things like your test score report and final transcript.

5. Citizenship status:
 You must enter your country of citizenship (or "No Selection"). If your country of citizenship is outside the United States, you'll need to provide your immigration status and your visa type.

6. ELC ID number:
If you were designated eligible in the local context after 11th grade, include the 12-digit identification number that was included in your notification letter from UC.

7. Statewide Student ID:
 Each K-12 student in California public schools is assigned an ID number. If it's not printed on your transcript, ask your counselor or registrar.

8. Credit card:
If you prefer to pay by check. You can mail your payment.
